Anyone can be a Builder
We visualize real software, so anyone — any team, any skillset — can be part of building it.
Our vision is to democratize software development, making it accessible to everyone, without compromise.
We get there with a “plug and play” approach to visual development that lets teams collaborate and ship faster.
Our founders
Steve Sewell and Brent Locks met at UC Berkeley in 2011, bonding over having plenty of ideas and no way to code them yet.
A decade later, Steve is a visionary technologist (Brent’s words) and Brent still tops out at HTML and CSS. The shared goal hasn’t changed: let anyone bring an idea to life.
Our investors
Our investors include Greylock Partners, and the founders and executives of many innovative and leading businesses.
What we build
Our products
Teams and AI agents build, review, and ship together on your existing apps and sites — two products, built to end the handoffs that slow everyone down.
Any role can ship production-ready features from your real codebase and design system — not throwaway prototypes.
- Web app development
- Design to code
- Prototypes
Marketing launches pages and campaigns on those same components, without waiting on an engineering queue.
- Headless CMS Platform
- Visual page builder
- Optimization
Culture
Our core values
Be Kind
Lead with empathy and humility. No egos, no negativity.
Work Smart
Focus on priorities, find the 80/20, and follow an incremental approach.
Customer First
Customers decide which problems we solve and how urgently.
Raise the Bar
Set higher standards, then beat them.
Life at Builder
Remote, but not distant.
Digital-first
We are (mostly) headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, but have team members distributed across the world and are committed to operating digital-first.
Async by default
Decisions get written down. Meetings are for the conversations that genuinely need one, so deep work survives across time zones.
We use what we ship
This site is built and published with Builder. When something is awkward for our own team, it gets fixed for customers too.

Actually remote. We are (mostly) headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area and some roles are hybrid there, but the company operates digital-first with team members distributed across the world. Remote team members are not second-class participants.
We hire across multiple locations, and each posting lists the regions it is open to. If a role looks like a fit but the location is unclear, ask in the first conversation — we will tell you plainly whether we can hire where you are.
Every posting carries a range. Compensation may vary based on location and is discussed early in the hiring process, so nobody wastes weeks before finding a mismatch. Final offers are based on experience, role-related knowledge, skills, and qualifications demonstrated through the interview process.
Real equity, on a four year vesting schedule with a one year cliff. We also have a ten year exercise window, which means leaving Builder does not force you into an immediate decision about exercising your options.
Typically a few weeks end to end, depending on your availability. The process is five stages: application review, an intro conversation, a craft deep dive, meeting the team, and an offer with references. We move quickly on decisions and will tell you where you stand.
